Azhar Academy - Tennyson Road Updates
Azhar Academy is a charitable organisation (Registered Charity Number: 1080849) founded in 1996 under the instruction and guidance of Shaykh al-Hadith Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Motala (Rahmatullah Alayh). The purpose of our charity is to provide Islamic and educational services and other charitable activities.
Based in East London, the Academy currently owns 4 properties:
- 235a Romford Road, E7, purchased in 2000 – AAGS and Azhar Masjid
- 228a Romford Road, E7, purchased in 2013 – Offices and Madrasah
- 470 Leytonstone High Road, E11, purchased in 2011 – AAPS and Nursery
- Tennyson Road, E15 4DR – purchased in 2021.
Since the inception of the Azhar Academy, we have continued to grow exponentially with our charitable activities.
Alhamdulillaah, with the blessings of Allaah, Azhar Academy has successfully purchased the Newham College ‘F Block’ site in Stratford for £2.7m.
Although we successfully purchased the site, we were required to carry out essential maintenance and refurbishment works in order to bring the building up to Ofsted and various other regulatory standards, in order for us to be able to register the building with the Department of Education. We therefore had to undertake work to a value of £1million.
We are now in urgent need of donations to allow us to pay off the outstanding £2million of Qardah Hasanah loans.
